For those who may not have noticed, after each of its first five games, Cal moved up in at least one poll. Now that Cal is the consensus no. 3 team in the nation, the only remaining spots for it to fill are 2 and 1. Give this trend, it stands to reason that by this time next week, Cal will rank no lower than 2. We know that Cal cannot lose this week, so all that is needed is for Florida to beat LSU or Stanford to beat USC. The latter may be unlikely, but the former is a real possibility.

Do I really believe Cal will be no. 2 next week? Perhaps not. However, at this time last week, all I hoped for was to see Cal hang on to the no. 6 spot. This week, I’m setting my sights higher.

Jackson is a Junior this year not a Senior. Since he will will no doubt be going in the first round of the NFL draft he might as well be a Senior.
