Look at Urban Meyer 's play calling at Florida.
Up 7 with only a few minutes left , he called pass play that resulted in quick TD and eventual victory versus Kentucky last weekend.
If Tedford was coaching Florida then , they could have lost that game.
We almost lost the game versus Colorado State earlier in the season ,remember ?
In summary ,Tedford calls play not to lose:-)
I agree with previous comments ... he is no football genius . His success has more to do with his recruiting instead of his coaching.
Well , you can do so much in recruiting .And your failure on the field will come back and bite you in recruiting .

Anyone who thinks Tedford is some offensive genius is headed down the perilous path that got over 900 people killed at Jonestown. Tedford is no God and he is certainly no genius. He is a fraud of a coach masquerading as a savior. He is no savior, he is stubborn and egotistical. He will leave us after this season for a lucrative contract at a university that actually has training facilities and supportive fans.

Jeff Tedford 's reputation as a good offensive coach is really in doubt now.
With so many weapons on offense , yet he was too conservative calling plays in the 2nd half ,waiting till obvious pass play on third down , thereby allowing UCLA defense to anticipate better . This leads to the crucial game ending interception.
He never acknowledged his play calling as the reason for the loss but instead laid the blame on the team effort ?
JT does not deserve the accolade he recives and has proven to be a decent coach , only good enough for 8-9 win season .Never national contender 's material.
Heck , the way this team has been playing and coached , we 'd be lucky to be 9-3 this season.

Absolutely agree. For one of the "best offensive playcallers" in college football, the last 2 games make me wonder how CAL could not put up 40+ on both Oregon State and UCLA. I hear the announcers keep talking about how fast these two defenses are the last 2 weeks, but it's not like they haven't been beaten this year. How can you not go back to the film/game videos and see how that's done? Utah put up 44 on UCLA, and an average UCLA offense which lost to Notre Dame, put up 40+ on Oregon State. I think Tedford's done a great job getting CAL to where they are, but these last two games just go to show how far we still have to go.

Agree that Cal was way too stubborn. The playcalling in the second half was a big head-scratcher. Run up the middle, run up the middle, run up the middle.

This team has the talent to win out the rest of the season, but will it execute? Will the right plays get called?
