...I keep forgetting to say this about the Cal-Air Force game: the other team did look a bit small, i.e. midget-like. Wasn't their star offensive player something like 135 pounds and 4 feet 7 inches? So, while #13 did great, let's not get tooo ahead of ourselves -- not that Cal alums or students ever get worked up and psyched over much to begin with.

I've supported NL all year long. And, frankly, I think he's pretty good for Pac-10 football. But the lack of great offensive line and several good RB (not just one, i.e. #20) caught up to him this year, as he didn't have the complete team to cover his obvious flaws -- i.e. slow as molasses. Competition between #9 and #13 will be great -- may the best man win, for, in the end, the team will be better for it. But, yeah: that #13 sure looked very very good. Quick feet, strong arm, decisive, and a je ne c'est qua regarding leadership ability in the face of adversity. I'm not saying he's Joe Montana a la Notre Dame: but, hopefully #13 as good as #3 was way back then in pulling off miraculous comeback wins (against Air Force no less!)

Has anyone ever found out from Tedford or anyone in the Cal staff as to WHY Riley wasn't given another shot at starting after the OSU game?

Especially given Longshore's condition?
